Job Description:

The Staff Accountant will work with the Controller to perform daily accounting functions for the construction company. This position will support the finance team and learn all aspects of the accounting cycle. The position will also be responsible for processing weekly payroll hours for final preparation by PEO service.Key Responsibilities:--- Prepare general journal and job cost-specific entries--- Assist Controller in month-end process--- Assist Controller in writing SOP's for various monthly, weekly & daily processes & procedures--- Reconcile bank statements and credit card statements--- Maintain various accounting schedules as needed for annual review--- Conduct various ad hoc analyses and projects as needed--- Prepare weekly time and attendance hours for export to Payroll processing service--- Review and verify payroll timekeeping records and reconcile discrepancies--- Process weekly Certified payroll report for Prevailing Wage jobs--- Enter weekly 1099 subcontract hours. (Help transition to external processing service)--- Prepare 1099's at the end of the yearQualifications:--- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance--- Entry-level or 1-2 years of accounting experience, preferably in the construction industry--- Basic knowledge of GAAP and general accounting principles--- Proficiency in Excel and ability to learn accounting software. Experience with ComputerEase is a plus--- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and communication skills--- Ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment--- Familiarity with ADP is a plus
