PRISM is a newly formed base business function within the Ethicon Endo-Surgery (EES) Supply Chain organization with the goal of managing the E2E Cost of Goods Sold for the handheld EndoMechanical and Energy business. A major focus of the PRISM program is to identify, prioritize and implement Cost Improvement Project (CIP) opportunities. The Senior Project Engineer is a key team member of our Prism Team, having overall responsibility to lead multiple complex engineering design change projects that reduce the cost of Direct Purchased Materials, using the EES CP0150 and/or SPCR processes. The candidate will have a strong project management and product development background, able to effectively build and drive a project schedule as well as understand product design and component manufacturing and assembly requirements. This position requires building close and collaborative partnerships within J&J and with outside suppliers. Inside partnership includes the J&J MedTech Source/Procurement organization regarding supplier selection and costing models, as well as EES Lifecycle Product Focus Teams regarding required support for design change projects. The candidate will be knowledgable with the EES CP0150 Design Change Process and will effectively partner with all EES cross functional teams to drive the design change project in concert with each business function. External partnerships include our EES manufacturing sites as well as J&J component suppliers around the world. Candidates should be self-motivated, independent and have an eagerness to learn and work as a team, and a desire to thrive in a dynamic environment. Critical to this role is the ability to independently resolve difficult project challenges and communicate broadly and accurately across the PRISM supply chain team, internal J&J partners, and external partners. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: - Leader of EES design change projects applying the SPCR and CP0150 processes. - Partners closely with Prism R&D design engineers and EES Life Cycle Engineering to understand component design intent, DFM/DFA. - Builds cases for new CIP project opportunities. - Creates project charter documentation and presents to PRISM Leadership. - Creates and manages design change project plans within the J&J Windchill system. - Creates, owns, and maintains MS project schedules. - Creates, owns, and maintains project expense & capital budgets. - Maintains Project Smartsheets Dashboards with critical project information. - Partners closely with EES LCE Product Focus Teams regarding required support needed. - Partners closely with the J&J MedTech Source/Procurement organization regarding supplier selection and projected component costs. - Assists in engineering study documentation and execution. - Reviews / approves G10002 component validations. - Leads formal project Design Reviews, Change Review Board discussions. - Assists with project Phase In / Phase Out strategy to ensure CIP of Direct Purchased Materials are realized.
