Job Description:
Frontier Nursing University (FNU) and its Board of Directors are
searching for a dynamic, forward-thinking leader to succeed current
President Susan Stone who plans to retire this year. The next
president will have the opportunity to build on the momentum
established during President Stone's 22-year tenure. The next
president must be visionary, collaborative, bring a track record of
established leadership and be prepared to enthusiastically
represent FNU and its mission.
Originally located in Hyden, KY and now located in Versailles, KY,
Frontier Nursing University was founded in 1939 as the Frontier
Graduate School of Midwifery. FNU has since grown to become one of
the largest not for profit universities in the United States for
advanced nursing and midwifery education.
The next President must be a proven strategic thinker who will
provide vision and collaborate with all campus constituents,
including the Board of Directors using a shared governance model.
Applicant requirements include an earned doctoral degree in nursing
or a related health field (PhD, DNSc, DNP, or EdD), from an
accredited institution in higher education. A Juris Doctor will
also be considered. Candidates must be currently certified as a
nurse-midwife (CNM) and possess an earned Master of Science In
Nursing (MSN) from a program accredited by the Accreditation
Commission for Midwifery Education (ACME). The successful candidate
should be a transformative leader with executive leadership
experience in nursing and academic or healthcare leadership in a
university, hospital setting or birth center.
Possess a working knowledge base of all nursing programs offered at
Frontier Nursing University including nurse-midwifery, family
practice, psychiatric-mental health and women's health care.
Applicants should have experience implementing collaborative
Diversity, Equity & Inclusion programs as they will shepherd FNU as
a leader in diversity initiatives.
The President must commit to living in Versailles, KY and becoming
an active community participant. Additional information about the
