Physical Requirements The essential job functions of this position
require you to: communicate and build working relationships with
staff, faculty and individuals from diverse backgrounds; abide by
University guidelines; maintain confidentiality; prioritize and
manage work effectively; provide exceptional customer service and
positively represent the university; ensure work is detailed,
accurate and completed in a timely manner; lift, push, and/or pull
objects up to 50lbs; stand or walk with objects up to 25lbs; and
possible exposure to cuts/punctures, bloodborne/airborne pathogens,
and/or challenging individuals.
Shift Monday - Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm
Job Summary Provide medical support under M.D. and Ph.D.
supervision for human investigational drug studies. Tasks include
medication administration by routes including intravenous,
insertion of IV covers, drawing and processing of blood samples,
physicals, ECG and vital sign monitoring. Monitor volunteers while
running protocols with research staff. Provide prompt and effective
interaction with investigational staff, medical personnel, outside
agencies and anyone associated with protocols. In cooperation with
research assistants, post-doctoral fellows and faculty members, run
investigational drug research protocols. Collect physiological and
behavioral data on Macintosh computers. Data collection includes
collection of urine samples, monitoring physiological measures,
administration of self-reports and independent observation of
volunteer's condition. Assist with volunteer recruitment including
phone and in-person screening. Assist with scheduling, inventory
and ordering of laboratory equipment and materials. Record keeping
of patient records and data collected.
Given the COVID -19 pandemic, and the need to protect our
university community including our students, staff, faculty and
visitors, the University of Kentucky is requiring COVID -19
vaccination for all new hires prior to starting employment.
Therefore, as of October 18, 2021, all new hires prior to their
first day of employment must submit appropriate documentation
showing, i) completion of the first vaccination against COVID -19,
or ii) completion of the full vaccination series against COVID -19,
or iii) approved exemption (medical contraindications or a
sincerely held religious belief) through the formal exemption
process from the COVID -19 vaccination requirement. For those
employees who have completed the first vaccination against COVID
-19 prior to their first day of employment, the second vaccination
(if applicable) must be completed following the vaccination
recommended schedule to be considered fully vaccinated.
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities The ideal candidate must be customer
service oriented and have effective time management, planning and
organizational, attention to detail, observation, decision making
and analytical skills.
Does this position have supervisory responsibilities? No
Preferred Education/Experience ACLS certified, Phlebotomy skills,
Intensive Cardiac Care ( CCU ) or Intensive Care ( ICU ) experience
preferred, clinical trial experience, good organization and
communication skills
