LGC Lexington is an analytical chemistry testing facility that provides testing to support the INFORMED suite of quality assurance certifications. More can be learned at www.wetestyoutrust.com . The SHE Lead is responsible for providing management of the site Safety, Health & Environment program.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Plans, designs, and implements SHE systems and reviews for compliance with appropriate guidelines and legislation
  • Plans and conducts SHE functions as required in accordance with appropriate state and federal regulatory standards (e.g., OSHA, EPA) including random and scheduled inspections
  • Provides direct communication of SHE system related issues with Management
  • Conduct and/or oversee SHE facility, regulatory, external client and system audits
  • Serves as member of local Business Continuity Disaster Recovery team
  • Suggest, plan, implement and track SHE improvement projects
  • Preserves and/or extends SHE compliance required by the business
  • Responds to incidents and manages the incident investigation
  • Provide training for all staff in SHE systems
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of appropriate legislation and developments
  • Complies fully with all company policies and safety procedures
  • Understand and support the Quality Management System
  • Perform internal quality audits as directed
  • Provide support to Quality Lead and deputize for Quality related activities when necessary
  • Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications
    • Minimum of a B.S. degree in chemistry, biochemistry or related discipline and at least 2-3 years of experience in a Health & Safety role
    • Must have leadership skills and awareness of Quality System impact on business
    • Must have appreciation of the basic principles of analytical practices used
    • Prior experience in an analytical, environmental or pharmaceutical laboratory preferred, but not required
    • Must be able to act as a reference point for all matters relating to Health & Safety, and the Environment
    • CPR certification preferred but not required
    • Must be a good communicator, able to convey written and spoken information clearly and concisely
    • Must be computer proficient, especially with Microsoft Office products
    • Work habits which demonstrate a strong focus on attention to detail and accuracy of reporting
    • Ability to successfully work as part of a team
    • Ability to read, comprehend, and speak English

      PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

      Ability to sit for long periods of time; ability to maneuver around the laboratory; good dexterity and ability to rotate wrists, arms and shoulders. Must have good eyesight, hearing, and speaking voice; ability to lift and/or move approximately 10 lbs.

      WORKING CONDITIONS:

      Work is generally performed in a normal office setting as well as normal laboratory setting with exposure to non-infectious pathological waste and caustic or toxic chemicals. Individual may work varying hours. A Duties may require some travel (not more than 5%).
