This position is in Richmond, KY.JOB SUMMARYTo define requirements, analyze, design and implement computer-based information systems for research or Battelle business/management functions.MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • As part of the LIMS team, ensures laboratory information technology functional needs and requirements to fully integrate plant operations into sample work flows.
  • Participates as part of a team in system design and analysis that sets and maintains the strategic direction of the laboratory information technology based on requirements.
  • Reviews performance and technical specifications to support the laboratories functional needs and sample requirements.
  • Designs, codes, upgrades, tests, debugs, implements and documents LIMS function and requirements.
  • Provides expertise in the implementing and integrating of purchased software as appropriate.
  • Implements and follows-up on assigned tasks, which may include installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of custom programming solutions to all LIMS applications.
  • Consults with, supports, and trains users on LIMS specific applications, including "on-call" support as required.
  • Identifies, maintains, and enhances opportunities to advance individual technical knowledge, contribute to team effort, and secure client confidence in system quality.The above statements are intended to describe the nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this job.     • Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Computer and Information Systems or equivalent degree with computer programming emphasized. Two (2) years' experience coding for and analyzing application systems or demonstrated ability to perform at this level.
    • Skills in relational database management and support, preferably to include MS SQL and/or SQL-PL programming, required.
    • Coding experience in C#, VS .NET programming environments, Windows 7/10 WinForms applications, and Microsoft Office applications, required.Additional selection and retention criteria will include the ability to:
      • Successfully pass medical screen, including the ability to wear a respirator and other PPE, lift up to 50 lbs-may involve work in close proximity of toxic chemicals.
      • Must be a US Citizen. The applicant selected will be subject to a national agency check security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements to be placed in a Public Trust Position.
      • Flexibility to respond to urgent project requests and/or changing priorities. This position may be required to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays and on-call.
      • Experience in laboratory instrumentation interfacing (Agilent MassHunter or OpenLab) is desired.
      • Experience in DevExpress (DXv2) framework and persistent objects desired.
