Job Description New Vista is a private, not-for-profit community mental health center home-based in Lexington, Kentucky. We serve 17 counties and have specialty programs throughout the state and typically serve over 25,000 adults and children through its primary service corporation. We are excited to announce that we have recently been awarded a Certified Community Behavioral Health Center (CCBHC) grant and are looking for a Medical Assistant to join our Team. The CCBHC will give New Vista the ability to incorporate primary care into our treatment model along with many other services like a rural Assertive Community Treatment team, enhanced crisis services and new outreach teams. The grant dollars will be used to establish the new CCBHC model in Clark, Estill, Madison, Powell and Fayette counties. The Medical Assistant provides clinical support to the physician and mid-level providers. The Medical Assistant provides instructions to patients as directed by the providers. The Medical Assistant is also responsible for compliance with all OSHA/CLIA and HIPAA regulations, and ensuring completion of all duties vital to business operations. The Medical Assistant is a highly visible position that is always responsible for creating a positive impression with patients, family members, and other visitors to the office. The Medical Assistant is a positive team player that promotes a culture of inclusion and participation. Required Education and Experience * High School degree or equivalent * CMA or RMA certification * Valid driver's license, reliable operating transportation, and proof of current auto insurance Preferred Education and Experience * 1+ years' experience in an outpatient medical office setting Essential Functions Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. * Provide patient care by giving clear direction to the patient, address patient concerns about the session. * Ensure completion of all forms vital to the revenue cycle (i.e. verification/clarification of orders, waivers for non-covered services, encounter form) * Provide instructions to patient under direction of the provider * Ensure complete and accurate information in the patient chart * Clean and disinfect exam rooms * Ensure compliance with OSHA, CLIA and HIPAA requirements * Assist with completion of patient requests * Manage referral process, outpatient test scheduling and precertification * Manage medication prior-authorizations * Interact with billing office as needed to resolve patient issues * Provide patient with good customer service * Document in chart and EHR the appropriate patient history and prepare patient for session * Conduct urine drug screens as required * Complete prior authorizations and obtain physical and lab exams as required While we welcome all to apply, there are some position specific background stipulations that must be met to comply with various regulatory and contractual requirements.
