The chosencandidate primary responsibility will be to assist with equine and non-equine events at the Kentucky HorsePark. The Event Coordinator I is an entry-level position assisting clients before, during and after events toensure a successful event.Located within minutes of downtown Lexington, KY, the Kentucky Horse Park is a 1,224-acre working horse farm,equine theme park, and internationally-renowned equine competition facility. Founded in 1978, the Park isowned and operated by the Commonwealth of Kentucky and attracts more than 800,000 visitors from around theworld annually. The Park also boasts a 260-site campground and is home to the International Museum of theHorse, a Smithsonian affiliate.The ideal candidate will have knowledge of event management, customer service and conflict resolution skills.Key Responsibilities: Effectively communicate with current and potential clients regarding event needs Ensuring client needs are met by coordinating needs with event and other park staff Physically working events; typically nights and weekends Create accurate billing information for approval Other duties as assignedPreferred Skills and Abilities: Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite Quickbooks experience is a plus Must be able to multi-task and solve complex issues quickly and effectively Must be able to work effectively with other departments Experience in the horse industry is a plus, but not a requirement Minimum Requirements EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree. EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: NONE Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: NONE Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Business or administrative experience will substitute for the required college on a year for year basis. Current or prior military experience will substitute for the required college on a year for year basis. Prior military experience will only substitute if the individual received an honorable discharge, discharge under honorable conditions, or a general discharge. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): If employed in the Kentucky Department of Parks or the Kentucky Horse Park, must be twenty years and one day of age at time of appointment. If employed in the Kentucky Department of Parks or the Kentucky Horse Park, must obtain S.T.A.R. (Server Training in Alcohol Regulations) certification from the Kentucky Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control within six months of appointment. Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this classification. Employing agency is responsible for ensuring employee possesses and maintains required licensure(s), certification(s) or other credentials. Working Conditions Incumbents working in this job title typically work long hours with daily exposure to dirt and noise.
