Required Related Experience 0 yrs
Required License/Registration/Certification ARRT and Kentucky State
Radiation Operators License. CT certification obtained within one
year of hire date.
Physical Requirements This position requires regularly lifting,
pushing, and/or pulling objects weighing up to or over 50 pounds;
and performing tasks with repetitive motions; intermittently
standing or walking with objects weighing up to 25 pounds; and
sitting at a computer workstation for extended periods of time; and
occasionally working at heights above four feet and/or in confined
spaces. Also involves regular to occasional risk of injury from
moving, lifting or positioning patients, equipment, or materials;
and exposure to loud noises, temperature extremes, hazardous
chemicals and fumes including waste, radiation, burns,
cuts/punctures, blood-borne or airborne pathogens, and
combative/violent people.
Shift 3rd shift with rotating weekends, 36 hrs a week. Call is
required. Techs rotate holidays, and may be required to work
overtime.
Job Summary The CT Technologist provides CT imaging for patients
that assists the patient's physician in expediting needed care.
Quality, efficiency, and service excellence are all essential parts
of this position. Duties include performing diagnostic and
interventional procedures per department protocols, providing
feedback on image for improvement as needed, addressing customer
needs appropriately according to age specific, service specific and
disease specific criteria, and utilizing proper procedure for
identifying patients. This position will also assist in a QA review
to maintain professional standards for themselves and any
technologists that they are called upon to assist.Maintaining
patient efficiency by spending the most appropriate amount of time
for each task and interaction will be an essential job function and
adhering to the UK HealthCare Values during interactions with
patients, coworkers, and physicians, as well as all external and
internal customers will also be essential. Maintaining privacy and
confidentiality is required. New Starting Pay Rate: The starting
pay for this position was recently adjusted based on current demand
for this role. The minimum hourly rate for this position will now
be $24.96/hour. All pay rates will be based on candidate's
experience. Given the COVID -19 pandemic, and the need to protect
our university community including our students, staff, faculty and
visitors, the University of Kentucky is requiring COVID -19
vaccination for all new hires prior to starting employment.
Therefore, as of October 18, 2021, all new hires prior to their
first day of employment must submit appropriate documentation
showing, i) completion of the first vaccination against COVID -19,
or ii) completion of the full vaccination series against COVID -19,
or iii) approved exemption (medical contraindications or a
sincerely held religious belief) through the formal exemption
process from the COVID -19 vaccination requirement. For those
employees who have completed the first vaccination against COVID
-19 prior to their first day of employment, the second vaccination
(if applicable) must be completed following the vaccination
recommended schedule to be considered fully vaccinated.
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities Excellent patient care skills and
technical/CT knowledge.
Does this position have supervisory responsibilities? No
Preferred Education/Experience At least one year of CT experience
preferred.
