Job Summary Education abroad advising is one of the core student
support functions of UK Education Abroad & Exchanges, fostering an
educational environment of student learning, growth and
retention.
The Education Abroad Advisor (Education Abroad Advisor I) supports
and advises undergraduates and graduates through all phases of the
education abroad process. The EA Advisor must know the details of
the program types and options, including application procedures,
academic coursework available, program requirements, on-site
logistics and application deadlines. The successful candidate will
be knowledgeable about other countries and international travel,
including systems of higher education, culture, health, safety and
security measures.
This position also includes the program coordinator
responsibilities of curriculum alignment and course tracking. The
EA Advisor will work with faculty and departments to identify ideal
education abroad opportunities for students from all colleges and
majors, approve course options and ensure that the approved courses
are correctly saved and updated into the course equivalency
management system.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities Successful candidates will have
international education experience, education abroad/student
advising experience, experience working with faculty, and
successful promotion and outreach experience. Candidates must have
excellent communication and presentation skills, attention to
detail, time management skills, strong organizational skills,
advanced proficiency in technology, and a high degree of
professionalism. Desirable qualities include enhanced understanding
of degree course requirements at University of Kentucky,
familiarity with other countries and cultures, and experience with
Terra Dotta software.
Does this position have supervisory responsibilities? No
Preferred Education/Experience Masters degree plus four or more
years experience in education abroad, advising/counseling, and/or
international education is preferred.
