Job Description:
Job Description Operates a variety of equipment which includes
blast cabinets as well as enclosed blasting units requiring the use
of personal protective equipment, fully encapsulated hoods and
supplied air.Employee is responsible for maintaining/improving
housekeeping standard in his/her work area and adhering to
established safety rules and practices.Generally validates interim
operations for quality purposes; final operations to be validated
by Systems Mechanics or other personnel.Must understand shop floor
computerized time and attendance system and independently execute
assigned responsibilities. Examples of those responsibilities are:
clocking in and out upon arrival and departure from work, close
shop order sequences when work is complete, etc.Required Education,
Experience, & Skills
- Must have the ability to read and interpret blueprints,
drawings and sketches.
- Must possess the knowledge and ability to interpret various
specifications and standards to determine type of media to be used
and how the material being processed can be affected.
- Must possess the ability to use tools and equipment that are
needed to perform blasting and cleaning operations as well as the
ability to set up, adjust and operate the equipment.
- Must understand shop floor time and attendance system and
independently execute assigned responsibilities such as; clocking
in and out, logging on to jobs or closing shop order sequences when
completed.
- Must have the ability, confidence and self-motivation to apply
talents independently and with good judgment.
- Assist other blasters/painters as needed.
- Must have the capacity and desire to continually improve
processes
- Assist others in obtaining solutions to quality and production
issues.
- Must be able to work well independently or as part of a
team.
- Must be a US citizen and be capable of obtaining/maintaining a
security clearance.Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
- SSPC Dry Abrasive Blast Certification (C7)
- A minimum of 1000 documented hours experience blasting in an
industrial or marine environment during their 5 year C&
certification.
- Knowledge of and experience using PPE, blasting equipment,
blast pots and blast cabinets, related tooling, etc..
- High School Diploma or equivalent.Pay InformationThis position
is covered under a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), which
